Tiger Woods likely to make cut

Tiger Woods wasn't thinking about missing a second consecutive cut for the first time in his professional career. He had his Callaway RAZR X HL Irons
on the top of the leaderboard.
"The number was 64 today, that was kind of the goal," Woods said. "I figured if I shot 64 I'd be between two (strokes) and four back. That was my mindset going out."
It didn't work out that way for Woods, but he showed flashes at times, birdieing three straight holes at one point during his first nine (the back nine) but also hitting some poor drives.
Woods hit just 6 of 14 fairways, struggling with several drives that went to the left. And yet he managed to hit 14 greens in regulation, and another he was on the fringe. He took 29 putts, two more than Thursday, but said he puttedTaylorMade Rossa Corza Ghost Putter, hitting just one poor one.
For the round, Woods made six birdies and three bogeys.
It was anything but an ordinary round of TaylorMade Rossa Corza Ghost Putter -- one in which he had more birdie chances when he couldn't hit the fairway, and vice-versa.



Woods hit just one of his first seven fairways but managed to find 7 of 9 greens and at one point made three straight birdies.

After shooting 2-under-par 34 on the back nine (his first nine holes), Woods hit a smother-hook tee shot at the par-4 first that traveled just 160 yards., leading to a bogey. But he rebounded with a birdie on the second hole and then started finding fairways.

in the 60s since his opening round at the Bridgestone Invitational, a no-cut event. That makes this tournament his first made cut since the Masters in April, where he tied for fourth.
Woods, who missed the cut at the PGA Championship, has never missed consecutive cuts as a pro.
This is Woods' first tournament since the PGA Championship and just his 10th overall this year due to injuries. He was ineligible for the FedEx Cup playoffs but is scheduled to play the Australian Open, the Presidents Cup and the Chevron World Challenge.

Friday, Woods was tied for 37th, seven strokes behind Casey. The Englishman is the highest-ranked player in the world at No. 20, but he failed to qualify for the playoffs as well and needs to play two more tournaments to meet the PGA Tour minimum of 15.
