The Bowling Green men's golf team looks to build upon their win at the John Piper Intercollegiate when they travel to Louisville, Ky. to play in the Cardinal Intercollegiate beginning on Monday.
The two-day tournament will start with a shotgun start at 8:30 am and 36 holes on Monday and conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
"We had a good practice round on a course we are familiar with and everyone is feeling good," head coach Garry Winger said.
The tournament is being held at the Cardinal Club Golf Course in Simpsonville, Ky.; a course that has consistently played hard and fast.
However, just like last week, it has rained, so the course is playing a little slow and wet, with more rain expected at the start of the tournament on Monday.
"Rain or shine, we are looking to play three consistent rounds by all five of the guys," Winger said. "We have not had that this year,
Callaway RAZR Hawk Driver so we are looking to play a complete tournament."
The Falcons are sending one team of five to the 18-team tournament. This week's roster will be Drew Preston, Parker Hewitt, Wes Gates, Charlie Olsen and Joe Cooper. The first four all competed in the tournament last year, while freshman Cooper will get his first shot at the Cardinal Club Golf Course.
"Everyone is feeling good after last week, so we look to capitalize on that," Winger said. "This is our fourth straight weekend playing in a tournament, so we want to be successful as we finish up this stretch."
Some of the universities in this field include Mid-American Conference rival Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Dayton, DePaul, Illinois St and Arkansas-Little Rock. Last year, the Falcons finished eighth in a very strong field of 16 teams and look to improve upon that.
