H.I.M. symbols

Ok,we really have to talk about this,don't you think so?
I'll start.


"Your pretty face is going to hell"
Ville was wearing this coat during the DSNBH tour, on which the phrase above is written. It is from the title of a track and album by Iggy Pop and The Stooges. Originally, it comes from the David Bowie movie, "Mask" but probably this has nothing to do with Ville because he's known to be an Iggy Pop fan.

"Irony is place of balls,balls in place of brains,brains in place of soul,Where is the soul? ,where is the love?, where am I?"
Ville said that during the Viva2 Viewers Choice Awards ceremony. The award was presented and given to them by Iggy Pop and these words belong to the lyrics of his song, "Mask". HIM performed a cover of the Iggy Pop song, several times during 2001. They admire Iggy (that explains "In Iggy we trust" that is written on the booklet of Deep Shadows & Brilliant Highlights) and they talk about him frequently "

"I hate myself and want to die"
Ville gave this answer during an interview and when asked what he likes and dislikes about himself. This answer made many fans feel a little uncomfortable and worried but there is an explanation: That is- again- the title of a Nirvana track that Ville thought it would be cool to use at that time! He doesn't hate himself! In fact in his own words he's "a pretty happy guy".


Maybe that's what H.I.M. means after all! That was actually a joke started by the band, probably not because they love Ice Hockey so much! They do this very often, trying to confuse the media on what H.I.M. stands for! That's because "His Infernal Majesty" is usually connected with the worship of Satan. This was also a good way to misinform some stupid TV shows that are supposed to inform on every detail about each artist. Ville referred in the past, to "Join Me (In Death)" as the "Funny Song" and that's because he still can't believe the tremendous success it had- which was a surprise for him too- something like a joke he couldn't believe, since he doesn't think of it as his best song. "666 Revisited" This song is exactly the same as "Heaven Tonight", an exception in Razorblade Romance. It's short and tough and reminds a lot of the sound from the first album. To state this resemblance with the sound of "GTLS V.666", "666" was used again as in this album. Later on the title of the song changed. "Heaven Tonight" was the last song written for RR, so its sound is closer to the sound of DSNBH. Added to the title of "The 9th Cyrcle" it stands for "One Last Time". Both songs have almost the same lyrics and differ only in the composition. The 9th Circle is another version of the song and can be found only in the limited edition of the album.

Album titles
Album Titles The basic idea followed on the album titles was- at least up until Love Metal- to create a contrast in the type of a Yin and Yang, two opposites that in a way belong to each other. The first album shows the contrast between Love (Greatest Lovesongs) and Evil (Volume 666), the second between Romance and Pain (Suffering- Razorblade) and the third between the Light (Brilliant Highlights) and Darkness (Deep Shadows). "
Here we can also reffer to "Dark Light" and "Venus Doom".I think they follow the same idea.So feel free to express your oppinions about this matter.

The Cosmic Pope

The "Cosmic Pope" is a prank against the "alien" Pope. The band thinks that he should not be worshiped the way he is- as a symbol of the Christian belief.

This symbol, that many fans still " don't know what it stands for, (mostly confused for a tear) is an old Egyptian symbol of Fire. It can be seen on the single of "In Joy And Sorrow" and on "Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights" album. Ville has a tattoo of it on his left leg.

THE HEARTAGRAM

The idea of the heartagram belongs to Ville Valo. It is a design based on a heart and the pentagram, and it symbolizes Love and Evil. It combines these two elements, in the way the album titles do. Ville has a tattoo of the heartagram on the back of his neck, Mige on his left hand and Gas on his left leg. For the album Love Metal, the heartagram is placed inside a circle. As Ville says, this was done because this brings forward the design and completes it, but does not mean that if it isn't in a circle, it's not a heartagram. Like with other older symbols- e.g. pentagram- that are surrounded by a circle. In the music video of Buried live by Love, a flashback is made, in the time where the idea of the heartagram was conceived. In this, the pentagram seems to be connected with a heart- the heart from Greatest Lovesongs Volume 666.
Many people associate the heartagram with Bam Margera, thinking it to be his personal logo, but it's not. Actually, Bam has legally licensed use of the heartagram from Valo. He is simply a big fan who adorns himself with their logo to show his love and appreciation of the band.

How did the “Heartagram” logo, so heavily associated with the band, come to be?

Let's see. I am turning 30, so it was like, about nine years and seven months ago when I turned twenty. I always draw things, so I was drawing and waiting for the rest of the guys to come to my apartment with kegs of beer and getting ready to start celebrating me turning into a man, so closer to one, and I just drew it down. I have always loved Led Zeppelin, their four symbols on their fourth album and Rob Zombie and White Zombie's visuals and stuff like that. I always wanted to make a symbol for our band, and then we got it.

"Join me" cross

The Cross of Lorraine is not a "Gothic" symbol, or a symbol of Satanism.

oh, it's simple, because they wanted to confuse people, you see, if it would have been as last year, then people would have used the rest of February to make complaints at Warner, but now everybody is trying to figure out when is the real Heartagram Day and so Warner had a pause in trials

yeah , some pecuniary interests for sure , but i see no good in this for HIM movement ,to create such a confusion !! this must be a date to remember and no one remembers it ok now ..
