Justin Rose has pulled out of the Dubai World Championship to be with his wife Kate as they await their second child.
The former European number one has opted to head home to Florida for family reasons after missing the
Titleist 2010 MB Forged 710 Irons cut in the Hong Kong Open.
"Flying home to Orlando for an amazing off season," said Rose on Twitter. "Our 2nd baby is on its way very soon. Sorry I couldn't play in Dubai. Family first."
The Englishman needed to play in Hong Kong last week to guarantee he appeared in the required 13 events on the circuit this season. Failure to do so could have led to the possibility of becoming ineligible for the Ryder Cup.
Rose currently sits seventh in the points race after winning one
Titleist 2010 MB Forged 710 Irons of the FedEx Cup play-off events in September, but could well fall down the standings by missing this week's big-money event.
The Dubai tournament sees Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy battle it out to see who will be Europe's No.1 at the end of 2011.
